The Blackthorn Team on Tour

Hayley, Whirly, and our mini model of the Thorn Tower made the long journey across the Atlantic to the other side of the US, bringing Blackthorn Scottish Sea Salt to the Winter Fancy Food Show in sunny San Diego, California.

We were delighted to be there alongside a brilliant group of fellow Scottish artisan food producers, including Taste of Arran, Wee Knob Butter, The Drinks Bakery, Equi’s Ice Cream, COCO Chocolatier, Pekoe Tea, and Maclean’s Highland Bakery, showcasing the diversity and quality of Scottish food and drink. We’re also fortunate enough to work with Isle of Arran Ice Cream and Wee Knob Butter, supplying Blackthorn Salt for their incredible Salted Caramel Ice Cream and butter.

Over the years, our team has been thankful to receive so much kind interest in Blackthorn from customers across the United States looking for organically-approved, mineral-rich, kosher sea salt, trusted for cooking, finishing, and use throughout the hospitality sector. It means so much to us to finally meet buyers and customers in person, and to see Blackthorn appreciated far beyond Scotland, helping share the story of diverse British sea salt production methods.

We were proud to share some of the lovely testimonials we’ve received over time, including lovely words from Iranian-American chef and author Samin Nosrat, who once recommended Blackthorn in British Vogue’s Food & Drink Gift Guide, saying “This year I tried Blackthorn Scottish Sea Salt for the first time, and it is heavenly. The huge, white flakes would make a wonderful gift for any cook (or eater), and last for ages too.”

A special memorable photo of King Charles and Queen Camilla discovering (and enjoying!) Blackthorn during their visit to Ayrshire in 2021 was also featured on our stand — something we were very grateful to be able to share.

International travel isn’t always glamorous though, there were predictable delays and complications, but it was absolutely worth it and just so lovely to come home to our respective families and 🛌!
